Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal Recipe
On cool Fall mornings, there’s nothing quite like a hot breakfast to start your day.
Oatmeal is one of my favorite hot breakfast foods and I love mixing in different kinds of fruits and spices to add some flavor. One of my personal favorites is Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal with REAL apples and cinnamon. When the flavors cook together, it tastes like fresh apple pie.
One of the best things about oatmeal is that it’s pretty much fool proof. I prefer Old Fashioned Oats because I can control the ingredients and avoid the added sugars that are found in most instant oatmeal. You can add just about anything to your Oatmeal to make it taste just the way you like.
I like to use ingredients that are easy to keep around the house. For my Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal, I start out with simple ingredients. For this recipe, I used brand name products. You can use whatever brands you like the best.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup Quaker Oatmeal
1 apple diced into small pieces
1 tbsp ground cinnamon
2 tbsp Bob’s Red Mill Whole Ground Flaxseed Meal (optional)
1/4 cup Dried Fruit (raisins, cranberries & plums are some of my favorites)
Directions:
Mix together oatmeal, diced apples, cinnamon, flaxseed meal, and dried fruit. Add 1-1/4 cup water or milk. Microwave on high for 2-1/2 to 3 minutes, or until thickened. Enjoy!
Prep Time: 2 minutes
Cooking Time: 2-1/2 – 3 minutes
Total Time: Approximately 5 minutes
Vanilla flavored almond milk is really delicious in this recipe as well.
Don’t be afraid to experiment and try different things. Once you’re comfortable trying new things, you’ll find so many great ways to modify other recipes too.
What is your favorite oatmeal recipe? I love trying new mix-ins at breakfast!
